Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Hiding Behind The Leg Of Her Pantsuit" from last night and it is hugely popular for obvious reasons.
Also hugely popular, apparently, is schools punishing gay teens. David W. Freeman (CBS News) reports:
When it comes to bullying gay teens, narrow-minded classmates may not be the only offenders.
Lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) adolescents are about 40 percent more likely than other teens to be punished by school authorities, police, and the courts, according to a new study by scientists at Yale University.
"We found that virtually all types of punishment - including school expulsions, arrests, juvenile convictions, adult convictions and especially police stops - were more frequently meted out to LGB youth," lead author Kathryn Himmelstein, who initiated the study while she was a Yale undergraduate, said in a written statement.Mary Forgione (Los Angeles Times) notes the study and how it found that LGB students "were 40% more likely to be expelled from school, arrested, stopped by police and conviction than other youths their age."
That's disturbing. LGBT teens have to deal with a lot. I was very lucky. I think it was obvious from an early age that I was a lesbian but I know that when I was a teenager and came out my parents already knew. They were not surprised and they were very, very supportive.
