That's Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "The Second Term" from this morning.
Today was like a long hangover. Like a long hangover with next door neighbors getting a new roof.
I just couldn't get it together.
I called in to work finally to say I'd be late.
Then I called back to say I'd be later. I start at nine. I got to work at nine thirty.
Everyone seemed down in the dumps. Then "Let the fun begin (Ava and C.I.)" went up. I bet you they have no idea how many people that rallied.
It got mood in the office up, up, up. We were sharing it and talking about our favorite lines in it.
And then Renee asked me a question that some readers may have.
This morning in "Mass arrests and violence continue," C.I. announced that she was extending online 'life' for six more months.
Renee wanted to know (a) am I and (b) am I forced to by C.I.'s decision or do I want to?
C.I. asks all of us before she decides. If we want to step aside, we can. I could close shop. But this go round no one wanted to. After we had made our decision, C.I. went to work figuring out what she was going to do. I was pretty sure she was going to extend.
I knew if Barack won, she would extend for sure.
If Mitt Romney had won, The Nation and The Progressive and everybody would be doing the jobs they're supposed (holding him accountable). But she knew that wouldn't happen with Barack. So I was sure there was a good chance she'd be extending because I knew there was a good chance Barack would win.
But I'm here and I will be for six more months.
Also, if C.I. closes up shop in six months, I don't have to. I can go on with my site. We all know that. (Why does she want to close shop? You try writing every day -- never a day off -- for eight years. You'll get sick of it too.)
So that's that.
Now I like the woman making the claim in this story and I like the man she's making the claim about. But, come on, does anyone believe her story?
(In case you don't use the link, I'm not doubting a rape victim. I wouldn't do that. The woman is claiming she slept with a man that most of us assume to be gay.)
Here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
