The show was finally almost as good as the first episode. Maybe it can recover?
Where is Grace?
Are we ever going to find out what happened to the only Black woman to survive the blackout? It's a Whiteout on NBC, if you ask me. Grace has been gone since the second episode.
They killed off the British woman. That was a given the minute we found out Charlie's mother was still alive. Didn't need Charlie's mommy-stand-in if her real mother was alive. Can't have too many women on the show, right?
So she's looking for Danny (her kidnapped brother). They find him. In a town where the militia's gearing up to launch a train.
They can't let them have the train!
Her uncle Miles and Nora agree it's bad for them to have a steam engine train.
Nora meets the town's only resistance member and they end up plotting to put a bomb on the train.
Even though it's supposed to transport Danny.
Charlie and Miles are on the train. So is Danny. Charlie tries to save him. She almost runs off with him but Nate stops her. The Black man -- the only other black character -- who heads the militia and kidnapped Danny tells Nate to stop Charlie after Danny is grabbed.
Nate instead whispers something like, "Protect your head" and lets her jump off the train. The Bad Guy is mad.
SO Danny makes it to where his mom is. He doesn't know it. He thinks she's dead. She tells the leader of the militia (that appears to love her) that the answer is several necklaces (13? 16?). And that they're scattered all over.
Oh, on the train, Miles is getting rid of the bomb while Charlie's trying to rescue Danny and then jumping off. And Nora gets stabbed by the only member of the resistance in town. Even though she's the resistance.
The fat guy may die next. He never does anything.
SO the big news?
The train makes it somehwere. (Chicago?) And Bad guy and Nate are walking together. We've learned bad guy worked for an insurance company and was a weakling bullied at work and bullied at home by a neighbor. But his White wife loved him. The only Black man on the show and he's married to a White woman?
And their son wsa always watching things. His name was Jason.
So the blond woman runs up to her husband and is so happy. And she looks at Nate and tells him how great it is to see him again, to see Jason.
Yep, he's their son.
That's why he doesn't get killed (so far) for not obeying the bad guy.
Again, probably the best episode since the first one.
But where the hell is Grace?
Here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
