The Bad Seed
For me, the scary films, the best ones, are always the ones with kids.
Like Children of the Corn or Village of the Damned. Or The Omen or the first Chuckie.
But my favorite scary movie is The Bad Seed.
Rhoda is so very evil.
The Bad Seed is in black and white and it's from the 50s. Rhoda's adopted and the whole point of the film is to give the message that nature trumps nurture (Rhoda's the child of a killer).
Rhoda wants her way and when she doesn't get it, she tends to do things like frame people and kill them. Some one would argue that she just wants to be the best there is.
The most illuminating moment of the film is probably when Rhoda has locked someone in a fire and goes to the piano to play so no one can hear the screaming. She pounds away on that piano. She's just ruthless.
