Above is Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Disappointment you can believe in!" from last night.
This morning, on Morning Edition (NPR), Dr. Mark Lachs talked about ways to live to a ripe old age. Reduce your stress being the key measure.
But what I really took from the segment was age.
The dream age for Lachs was 109.
Are we greedy?
I can remember when living to be 100 was seen as a great goal but probably not one you could achieve. For those lucky enough to be blessed with good genes and good health care, I am guessing that we'll see 120 as the next target goal. Meaning in 40 or so years, 109 won't seem old enough.
That may be laughable but life expectancy continues to increase.
What I fear it will mean is longer years of working. Just because someone can live to 109 does not mean they can, for example, work a 40 hour work week until they are 89.
