There were a number of things I wanted to write about but for cheap thrills, I clicked on this POLITICO piece to laugh about Barbara Bush. That's senior. I don't have any laughs at young Barbara Bush. I think I've made clear that I think she's conducted herself very well in public. Jenna? I admire her ability to say, "Yeah, I'm in the spotlight, so what?"
So I had my chuckle at Barbara Bush the elder and then stuck around for the comments. I think people need to learn to read. And Rita Lang needs to learn how to write -- including subject - verb agreement. But people seem to think Barbara Bush is talking about Barack Obama's treatment when she's saying it's the worst race she can remember (because she has selective memory). No, she's talking about Newt, Rick and Mitt. Buy a clue.
And then there's this:
- Gert Waterink · Barcelona, SpainWell, do not forget Mrs Bush Sr. is a more moderate Republican than her daughter-in-law. The Bushes Sr. are originally from New England. George Bush Sr. was the guy who wanted to have a more 'nicer Republicanism', whereas his son Bush Jr. took the USA into the mudpool of neoconservative, dirty politics. I wholeheartedly agree with Barbara on this one. Politics should be about comprimising, instead of a USA being taken hostage in a two-party dictatorship.
Barbara Bush is not more moderate than Laura Bush. You stupid, stupid idiot. Laura Bush was a Democrat until her marriage. She probably honestly still is. (Though I'm sure she voted for her husband.) Second, Laura Bush actually reads and was a librarian. Barbara Bush is notorious for the only reading material in her home being Jokes for the John. I'm not joking about that.
She's bitter and they say W got his never forgive attitude from her.
You're so stupid, Gert, that you don't even understand what she's saying. But you rush to praise her and you don't know a damn thing about the woman. In the process of praising her, you slander the only Bush adult -- I'm leaving Jenna, Barbara younger, George P., Noel and the others as children -- who really gave a damn about people.
I think Gert's real probably is that Laura Bush has a southern accent. She could have been mean like Babsie when HW left the White House. She could have ranted and raved. Instead, she showed that who she offered in the White House was who she was.
I'm not going to pretend like I haven't said awful things about Laura Bush in my lifetime. Fortunately, I didn't blog about them because I didn't have a blog then. But I did issue an apology here to Laura Bush last year for the things I thought of her and said of her. And I meant that. My quarrel is with her husband. I honestly think Laura Bush was a good First Lady.
