It start with a post by Lambert who is posting just because he got linked by someone else. It's the Circle Jerk, you understand. And Lambert probably wishes he had closed comments.
Lambert's thrilled because Brad Reed (Crooks & Liars) wrote:
Now would be as good a time as any to issue a mea culpa to Lambert and the folks at Corrente, who are much smarter than I am: You were right about Obama! I was wrong. I stupidly voted for neo-liberalism in the Democratic primary when what we really needed was populism. The difference is, I think Edwards was the only one who actually might have delivered in that regard. Hillary would have been neo-liberalism with a better health care plan.
For the record, I do have a minor in poli sci. I did so much undergraduate work in poli sci that, if I had a decent advisor, I would have graduated with poli sci as part of a double major and not a minor. I mention that because Lambert offers a definition (in the comments) of neo-liberalism that isn't neo-liberalism. Okay, I'll let it slide except he's attacking a woman, Basement Angel, who is correct about what neo-liberalism means. He's upset that Basement Angel thought she could have an opinion on a post that was just his effort to say "Thanks for linking, Brad!!!!"
It was sexism, as Basement Angel points out. Then it becomes "Uh, you can not support Hillary and not be a sexist!" Any idiot who claims John Edwards would have been better than Hillary is a sexist pig. That's due to the fact that Mr. Hair Cut had no real record and he and his estranged wife have been proven to be non-stop, never-ending liars. Brad Reed's not making a real apology because -- as some commenters point out -- he has to drag his Hillary hatred into it.
I felt really badly that Basement Angel was ganged up on. And I said, "I'll write about that tonight." On that post, I'll also note that Chicago Dyke has no right to be all 'you're welcome' because she supported Barack. I damn well remember how she used to get on my nerves and I used to regularly callher out for her excuses and more on Barack. She wasn't prematurely right. She was, in fact, a Corrente poster who frequently whined about the Hillary supporters.
Chicago Dyke needs to stop trying to rewrite history. Does she think everyone forgets her big huff and how she stopped writing political posts because she was so sick of the Hillary supporters?
Aeryl's post? First, she supported Hillary during the primaries. But now she's in a tither over a speech Hillary gave yesterday. First off, Hillary's speech is in many ways a companion piece to Vincent Fox's speech. Aeryl never expressed outrage over that, did she? (No.) Second, she's all pissed that Hillary used the term "insurgency" and she wants you to know what insurgency and insurgents are . . . But she doesn't know. If she had a clue, she wouldn't be saying Iraq had insurgents. By the definition she provides, there are NO insurgents in Iraq. That is because the resistance fighters have been fighting since before the illusionary puppet government was ever installed. They are resistance, they are fighters, they are many things but they are not insurgents. (I did check this with C.I. who has multiple degrees and she said I was correct that the resistance is not insurgents and that the i-term never appears at TCI unless it is in a quote.
And for you laughing enjoyment: Libbyliberal. Who writes of Iraq: "Also, when 1 million Muslims are dead by the United States and its allies, and 4 million are displaced, and with the nightmarish atrocities of rendition and torture, how dare our decision makers profess disappointment and surprise that an anti-Muslim sentiment has been brewing through the decade." Excuse me? 4 million displaced? Muslims? Can we get a Little Golden Book on the Iraq War for Libbyliberal? Iraq is not 100% Muslim currently and wasn't before. A significant number of the external refugee population is Christian. The internal refugees also include Christians. There are Yazidi and Mandaens. Look for Libbyliberal's next column to be titled, "They All Look Alike To Me." For reality on the refugees, you can refer to
Here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
