Those are the stories I can find on Google right now. I hope it gets more attention because it's just outrageous. And, yeah, after interviewing the spouses of straight service members, the military needs to be seeking the input of gay partners. I just cannot believe how sleazy and unprofessional Barack Obama has made this entire process.
He can't pick up the phone and say, "Hey, Bobby Gates, cut that s**t out. These are people we're talking about, treat them with some respect!"
He can. He can pick up the phone and say that at any time. But he doesn't give a damn and hasn't the LGBT community caught onto that already?
Dan Choi -- Lt. Dan Choi -- has been drummed out of the military for being gay. Barack could have stopped that. He could have issued an order for there to be no more discharges under DADT until the policy was reviewed. An executive order would have taken care of that, he wouldn't even need Congress for that.
But he refused to do a damn thing.
Because he doesn't give a damn about the LGBT community. He'll take our money, he'll pick our pockets, but he's not going to do a damn thing to improve our lives.
What a prissy little coward Barack Obama is. The man Michelle laughing hailed as a "fierce advocate" for the LGBT community. Whatever, Michelle, whatever.
All the articles linked to above are worth reading but I want to emphasize this from the Washington Blade's Chris Johnson:
Alex Nicholson, executive director of the Servicemembers United, said Monday in a statement that the spousal survey was even more derogatory toward gay and lesbian personnel than a previous survey sent directly to U.S. troops.
"While it is wise to solicit and consider military spouse input on policy changes that will have a major impact on military families, it is extremely unwise to do so for issues that have minimal impact on spouses while also using poorly designed, biased and derogatory survey instruments," Nicholson said.
Nicholson added that the Pentagon should be concerned with what he called "real family readiness issues," such as excessive deployments, inadequate mental health support and low troop pay.By the way, please note that MoveOn and all the other useless groups aren't doing a damn thing to call this out. As usual, it's LGBT groups and individuals and the friends we can usually count on. (C.I.'s one of the friends we can always count on. That's why I became a community member to begin with. The Common Ills never, ever shied away from LGBT issues or for calling for full equality. And if you attack the LGBT community, step back. C.I. doesn't play. Which is why she and Ava ripped into the con artist Jeremiah Wright who -- wasn't it cute how The Nation and everyone pretended not to see -- compared sodomy to murder.)
Here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
