I took that screen snap when C.I.'s snapshot went up today. Because C.I. had covered the province wanting to split in Iraq -- the thing you see Antiwar.com noting at the top right-hand corner.
So it was a race to the finish to see who would get it?
Over 12 hours before the snapshot and Antiwar.com, C.I. had already noted the province:
Diyala Province wants to go semi-autonomous and is following Salahuddin's lead. We'll go into that in the snapshot and also Osama al-Nujaifi's remarks yesterday about Nouri and his Cabinet being in violation of the Constitution. I don't see US outlets grabbing those remarks either.
How did she beat Antiwar.com and so many others?
Her link this morning went to an Iraqi newspaper, Al Mada. A newspaper in Arabic.
It's really amazing that time and again, C.I.'s scooping due to the fact that so few Americans read Arabic.
So the screenshot was my way of noting that C.I. isn't running a race, she's won it.
Here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
